General Dentistry

Attending regular dental check-ups (examinations) allows a dentist to see if you have any dental problems and will help you keep your mouth healthy. If you need any further treatment your dentist will advise you at this appointment. At each dental check-up you attend your dentist will…
  • Examine your mouth, gums and teeth
  • Ask you about your general health and lifestyle and whether you’ve had any previous problems with your mouth since your last visit
  • Give you advise on your lifestyle i.e. your diet and ways to promote good oral hygiene
  • Discuss with you an appropriate time for your next visit.
Your dentist will discuss with you during your appointment appropriate time to book your next appointment. This time will vary depending on your teeth, ranging from 3 months to about 2 years. If you experience any problems in between your check-ups you should contact us to make an appointment as soon as you can. In an emergency or outside of practice hours please dial 111.

Dental fillings are used to replace missing areas in the tooth’s structure to due to breakages or caries. Once the decayed portion of the tooth is removed the dentist will fill the area with either or a number of different materials. With a white filling you will have the peace of mind that the filling not only looks great but also functions like the original tooth.

Composite or ‘tooth coloured’ fillings

These are fillings made from a mixture of materials including powdered glass and ceramic added to a resin base. These fillings are very popular because their colour can be well matched to your natural tooth colour making them almost unnoticeable.

At Manor Dental Practice we want to help you and your children look after their teeth right up to adulthood. We strongly believe that prevention is the way forward to maintain good oral health.

We want to show both you and your children that a visit to the dentist doesn’t have to be a daunting experience. Our Nurses are available in the Practice every day and are happy to give you helpful tips on brushing and flossing and diet advice to ensure that both you and your child are as informed as possible.

We will be running a series of ‘children days’ within the practice to help both parents and children to become familiar with our staff and the clinical environment. If this is something you’d be interested in, please register your interest with reception.

We would like to make sure that our patients can access as much information as possible about our services and the treatments we provide. In this section you will find links to our practice leaflet, in-house treatment leaflets, treatment information guides and after treatment care advice. If there is anything you are unsure about, whether it be about our services or the treatment you have had or are going to receive then please do not hesitate to call our reception where we will be able to offer you further assistance.
